Pickering Series 600 high-voltage reed relays named finalist at Instrumentation & Electronics Awards 2026

Pickering’s highly customisable Series 600 has been shortlisted for Passive Component / Electromechanical Product of the Year, with the winner to be announced in London on 15 October.

October 2026, Clacton-on-Sea, UK: Leading manufacturer of high-performance reed relays, Pickering Electronics, is delighted to announce that its Series 600 customisable high-voltage reed relays have been named a finalist in the Passive Component / Electromechanical Product of the Year category at the Instrumentation & Electronics Awards 2026. Series 600 is one of five products shortlisted in the category.

The winners will be revealed at the Instrumentation & Electronics Awards ceremony on Thursday 15 October 2026 at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London. Organised by Datateam Business Media, publisher of Instrumentation Monthly and Components in Electronics, the awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the instrumentation and electronics industries.

Introduced in 2025, Series 600 was developed to give engineers greater flexibility when a standard high-voltage relay cannot meet an application’s electrical or mechanical requirements. The range has since received a refreshed external design, including new white flying leads and a QR code on the relay that provides direct access to the Series 600 product page and supporting information.

Its configurable architecture offers more than 2,500 combinations, with up to 20kV standoff, 12.5kV switching, 200W switching power and 25kV switch-to-coil isolation.

Series 600 is available with 1 Form A, 1 Form B and 1 Form C contacts, alongside 5V, 12V or 24V coils. Engineers can also specify different case sizes, PCB pins, turrets or flying-lead connections, potting materials, electrostatic or coaxial screening, and diode or Zener diode coil suppression. Insulation resistance greater than 10¹³Ω supports applications where very low leakage and high isolation are critical. Engineers can explore the available options using the Series 600 Relay Configuration Tool.

This flexibility makes Series 600 particularly suited to demanding high-voltage applications including hi-pot and cable testing, EV battery management and charge point testing, photovoltaic inverter and insulation resistance testing, medical equipment, semiconductor test and high-voltage instrumentation.

Series 600 builds on more than 55 years of Pickering experience in reed relay design and manufacture. The relays use high-voltage reed switches with tungsten-plated contacts and internal mu-metal magnetic screening, alongside Pickering’s established relay construction techniques. Every relay is 100% tested, including dynamic contact resistance testing, to help ensure consistent performance before shipment.

The Instrumentation & Electronics Awards recognition follows further recent success for Pickering’s reed relay technology, including the Series 125 ultra-high-density reed relay range being named Passive/Electromechanical Product of the Year at the 2025 Elektra Awards.
