Recommended Reed Relays for High Density Applications
Series 125 – 5mm2 x 15.5mm up to 1 A, 20 W
The smallest 2-pole reed relay currently available. 2 Form A (DPST N.O) relays with 3, 5 or 12 V coils. Ideal for very high density applications such as A.T.E. switching matrices or multiplexers.
Requiring a board area of only 5mm x 5mm, these relays allow the highest packing density currently available for a 2-pole relay. Despite their small size, the Series 125 offers an optional diode. The full mu-metal package enables side-by-side stacking with just a 1% typical magnetic interaction, compared to 40% in an unshielded relay.
Series 124 – 4mm2 x 9.5mm up to 0.5 A, 10 W
The smallest through-hole reed relay available. 1 Form A relays with 3 or 5 V coils. Very fast operate and release times typically 80 μs; make these relays ideal for high-speed test systems.
Stacking on 4 mm x 4 mm pitch with a height of 9.5mm; making them the smallest reed relay Pickering offers – saving cost & space. Insulation resistance >1012 Ω. The relays feature sputtered ruthenium instrumentation grade reed switches. Ideal for A.T.E. switching matrices or multiplexers.
Series 122 – 4mm2 x 12.5mm up to 1 A, 15 W
Ultra-high packing density 1 Form A (SPST N.O) relays with 3 or 5 V coils. Fast operate & release times typically 150 μs or less make these relays ideal for high-speed test systems.
The Series 122 occupies a PCB footprint of only 4mm x 4mm, facilitating the highest packing density currently available. Series 122 relays measure 12.5mm in height and features a sputtered ruthenium instrumentation grade reed switches. Ideal for A.T.E. switching matrices or multiplexers.
Series 120 – 4mm2 x 15.5mm up to 1 A, 20 W
Highest packing density reed relays currently available. 1 Form A (SPST N.O) relays with 3, 5 or 12 V coils. Ideal for A.T.E. switching matrices or multiplexers.
Requiring a board area of only 4mm x 4mm, these relays allow the highest packing density currently available. Two switch types are available, a general purpose sputtered ruthenium switch rated at 15 Watts, 1 Amp (3V) or 20 Watts, 1 Amp (5 & 12 V) and a low level sputtered ruthenium switch rated at 10 Watts, 0.5 Amps.
Series 117 – Mini-V-SIL for up to 10 W
1 Form A (SPST) or 2 Form A (DPST) reed relays. 3 or 5 V coils with optional internal back E.M.F suppression diode. Ideal choice for very high-density applications.
The Pickering Series 117 is a range of Single-in-Line relays intended for very high-density applications such as A.T.E. switching matrices or multiplexers and most Instrumentation applications. If a higher rating is required, the Series 115 rated at up to 20 W, 1.0 A should be considered.
Series 116 – Mini-V-SIL up to 20 W
Very high packing density relays up to 1 Amp switching current. 1 Form A (SPST) or 2 Form A (DPST) N.O. 3, 5 or 12 V coils. 100% tested for dynamic contact resistance.
Highest quality instrumentation grade switches with sputtered ruthenium contacts making them ideal for low level or “cold” switching applications. 1 Form A stacks on 0.15 ” x 0.27 ” pitch. 2 Form A stacks on 0.15 ” x 0.40 ” pitch. 3, 5 or 12 V coils.
Series 115 – Mini-V-SIL up to 1 A, 20 W
1 Form A (SPST) or 2 Form A (DPST) N.O. relays – SPST stacks on 0.15 ” x 0.27 ” pitch. 3, 5 or 12 V coils. Featuring sputtered ruthenium contacts for long life and high reliability.
Two switch types available – switch type 1 is better suited for general purpose applications. It has a layer of copper beneath the ruthenium to help dissipate the heat from the contact area. This gives an improved current inrush handling ability. Switch type number 2 should be chosen for low level or ‘cold’ switching applications.
Series 113 – 20 W (Form A), 3 W (Form C) + RF
Form A, Form A coaxial & Form C reed relays. 3, 5 & 12 V coils with optional diode. Includes high frequency types for up to 3 GHz. Stack on a small 0.15″ x 0.5″ pitch.
Form A versions have sputtered ruthenium contacts, ideal for automatic test equipment. Form C version is the smallest changeover reed relay available on the market. RF types ideal for digital switching systems that demand low RF losses and low insertion loss. 1 Form A, 5 V version has a coil resistance of 500 Ω, drives directly from TTL logic.
Series 112 – SIP 1 Form A up to 20 W, 1 A
Ideal for high density card-based systems such as VME, VXI, Compact PCI, PXI, and automatic test equipment. 3, 5 or 12 V coils with optional internal diode.
Highest quality, sputtered ruthenium instrumentation grade reed switches. Switching up to 0.5 A, 10 W. The 5 Volt coil version has a resistance of 500 ohms and may be driven directly from TTL logic. Insulation resistance >1012 Ω. The relay has an internal mu-metal screen which eliminates the risk of magnetic interaction problems.
Series 111 – 10 W + RF up to 2.5 GHz
3 or 5 V coils. Two package styles – mu-metal package or plastic package with internal mu-metal magnetic screen. Includes a 50 Ω coaxial device suitable for use up to 2.5 GHz.
Stacks on 0.15 x 0.40 inches pitch. Insulation resistance >1012 Ω. Featuring the highest quality instrumentation grade reed switches. They have an identical footprint to the Series 110 and 112 but the height is reduced to only 0.26 inches (6.6mm). 100% tested for dynamic contact resistance.
Series 110 – V-SIP 1 Form A 20 W
1 Form A reed relay stacks on 0.15” x 0.40” pitch. 3, 5 or 12 V coils. Two types are available, a general-purpose version & a type suitable for low level or “cold” switching applications.
5 V coils of 500 Ω may be driven directly from TTL logic. The switches in this range are mounted vertically within the package, this allows the use of the same switch types as would normally be found in relays requiring a very much larger board area. The internal mu-metal screen eliminates the risk of magnetic interaction.
Series 109 – 20 W + RF up to 2 GHz
Switching up to 1 A, 20 W. Reed relays available in 1 Form A, 2 Form A, 1 Form B, 1 Form C (changeover), or 1 Form A coaxial 50 or 75 Ω. 3, 5 or 12 V coils.
An ideal choice for high density applications such as A.T.E. switching matrices. The mu-metal packaged Series 109 and 109RF and the plastic packaged Series 109P, are magnetically screened single-in-line reed relays that stack on 0.15″ x 0.6″ pitch. Highest quality instrumentation grade switches.
Series 108 – up to 20 W at 200 V
Available in 1 Form A (SPST) & 2 Form A (DPST) at 20 W, 200 V. 1 Form C (Changeover) rated at 3 W, 200 V. 3, 5 or 12V coils. Ideal for high-end instrumentation applications.
Encapsulated in a mu-metal magnetic can, stacking on a 0.15” (3.8 mm) pitch. 5 V coils are 500 Ω and may be driven directly from TTL Logic. Insulation resistance >1012 Ω and superb contact resistance stability. Insulation resistance greater than 10E12 Ohms (1TOhms) for Form A devices.
Series 200 – SMD up to 20W + RF 5GHz
Surface mount reed relays with a wide range of switch configurations – 1 Form A, 2 Form A, 1 Form B and 1 Form C including coaxial types for up to 5 GHz. 3, 5 or 12 V coils.
For R.F. or high-speed digital applications, 50- or 75-ohms coaxial devices are available in the same small package. The special high temperature plastic package will withstand the temperatures associated with Infra-red or vapor phase reflow soldering processes. Internal mu-metal screen allows side-by-side packing with nominal magnetic interaction.
