Pickering Electronics at the recent Semicon West USA, San Francisco

by Pickering / Sunday, 17 August 2014 / Published in Media News

Pickering Electronics are acclaimed Manufacturers of high quality Reed Relays for Instrumentation and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE),

High voltage switching, Low thermal EMF, Direct drive from CMOS, RF switching and other specialist applications. Relays are available in Surface Mount, Single-in-Line (SIL), Dual-in-Line (DIL) and many other popular package styles.

Our High quality reed relays are encapsulated using a soft inner material to greatly reduce physical stresses on the glass/metal seal of the reed switch capsule. Different materials have different expansion characteristics and the very hard compounds used by most manufacturers can cause stresses that can damage seals or distort the reed switch thereby changing switch blade alignment. This will degrade contact resistance stability and life expectation.

Pickering Electronics highlighted the following products amongst others at Semicon West 2014.
Pickering Series 117 SIL Reed Relays are ideal for very high density applications such as A.T.E. switching matrices or multiplexers. They are available in 3V and 5V, 1 Form A and 2 Form A variants and like all of our Single-In-Line Series they are constructed using our SoftCenter® technology.

Pickering Series 113 SIL Changeover Reed Relays Pickering Electronics’ Series 113 changeover single-in-line reed relay is our smallest changeover. They’re magnetically screened and require a board area of only 0.15 inches (3.8mm.) by 0.5 inches (12.7mm.). They have a 3 Watts rating and like all of our Single-In-Line Series they are constructed using our SoftCenter™ technology.

Pickering High Voltage Reed Relays
If you need Reed Relays for High Voltage applications customers should take a look at Pickering’s High Voltage Relays.

The SERIES 104 fits on a Board area of 0.25 x 1.0 inches (1 Form A)They are available up to 3 Kilovolts with Rhodium plated, vacuum switches in a Single-in-Line plastic package. Three voltage ratings are available.1kV stand-off, 500 volts switching at 10 Watts (One or two Form A or one Form B).1.5kV stand-off, 1kV switching at 10 Watts (One or two Form A or one Form B).3kV stand-off, 1kV switching at up to 20 Watts (One Form A only).Like all of our Single-In-Line Series they are constructed using our SoftCenter™ technology.

SERIES 60/65 fit on a Board area of 0.65 x 2.3 inchesThese are available up to 15 Kilovolts with Tungsten plated, vacuum switches. Series 60 are for chassis mounting with solder tag connections, Series 65 are for PCB mounting. Three voltage ratings are available.5kV stand-off, 3.5kV switching at 50 Watts (One Form A or one Form B).10kV stand-off, 7.5kV switching at 50 Watts (One Form A or one Form B). 15kV stand-off, 12.5kV switching at up to 50 Watts (One Form A only).

SERIES 62/63 fit on a Board area of 0.8 x 2.55 inchesThese are available up to 15 Kilovolts with Tungsten plated, vacuum switches in a chassis mounting package with push-on connections.

Guarantee of High Technical Standards –
Pickering Electronics’ Quality Assurance Pickering manufactures Reed Relays for instrumentation applications using only the highest quality materials. We are certified to ISO 9001-2008 and audited by the British Standards Institution. Pickering relays are subjected to continuous inspection during the manufacturing process and after a strenuous thermal cycling routine are 100 percent tested for all operating parameters on Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and other specialized equipment. All ATE test results are archived and used for Statistical Process Control.

Featuring Pickering SoftCenter® TechnologyWe are manufacturers of high quality Reed Relays for Instrumentation and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), High voltage switching, Low thermal EMF, Direct drive from CMOS, RF switching and other specialist applications. Pickering Relays are available in Surface Mount, Single-in-Line (SIL), Dual-in-Line (DIL) and many other popular package styles and like our existing relays they incorporate SoftCenter® technology.

More about SoftCenter® Pickering Reed relays are encapsulated using a soft inner material to greatly reduce physical stresses on the glass/metal seal of the reed switch capsule. Different materials have different expansion characteristics and the very hard compounds used by most manufacturers can cause stresses that can damage seals or distort the reed switch thereby changing switch blade alignment. This will degrade contact resistance stability and life expectation.

Pickering Electronics – the Reed RelayMate – An in-depth new publication which looks in detail at Reed Relays. It describes how reed relays are constructed, what types they are, how they work. Also our relay experts describe what parameters can affect their operation, how clients can chose the correct relay and furthermore a comparison with other relay technologies and how to drive and place reed relay coils.
